        I seem to recall that if someone restores a source file into a library
        that already has a source file by that name, the original source file
        on the system is renamed like that...

Do you have a clue as to how these members with 4 digit numbers are being
created?  Our '400 is on V3R7 and I have found several QRPGSR0001 members
with the text of "Old name QRPGSRC in USERID owned by QPGMR."

I assumed it was some utility that we were running that was duplicating the
QRPGSRC.  But if you have seen it --- well maybe it is OS/400?
