<I already asked about doing a ftp from AS/400 to Oracle/Unix. We are
<thinking about going to use Gateway, are there some people with
<experience with Gateway. I want to know what I have to do on the AS/400,
<I heard that I have to do some journalling, is this true, and can
<someone tell me more about this?
< Maurice.
Maurice, we run the Oracle Gateway at our Shop. The manual states that
because the gateway runs under commitment control *CHG that any files
updated would have to be journaled.
You also have to be at Version 3 of OS/400. The Oracle manuals that come
with the product do a good job of guiding you through the setup steps
on the AS/400. They also have sample HLL source code to show you how
to use the product. If distributed and embedded SQL is new to the
programmer the there will be a learning curve of a few weeks. If
I remember correctly we had some problems with the CCSID before getting
the product to work.
