I have two of them in testing right now. Pretty neat little boxes. Took awhile to get them working, as no real manual is available, showing the steps in configuring them, except an on-line manual on the Web. Had to play around for an hour or so, and finally figured out the configuration. I am using the Ethernet models. All I have gotten to work so far is 5250. I am getting some information on getting them to work with the RS/600 real soon. I am also in contact with NCD, about getting a copy of the Wincenter Pro software. I have a IBM PC365 Ppro 200 just waiting for it. A salesman from NCD, said that they are trying to set some time up to come to my company to setup the software for us. I can't wait until that happens, as that is why we are testing out these NC's. Supposedly we are the first company in South Western Ontario to get these boxes. Loading on the Network Station Manager was fun, as you have to first apply a whole pile of PTF first. After I applied the PTF's, I guess one of the PTF's made some weird TCP/IP changes, and after the first IPL, the QSTRTUP died on the STRTCP command. It turns out IBM added some new things, and a call to IBM support straightened it all out. Installing the Station Manager software required FTPing some files to the AS400, and doing a RSTLICPGM. It installs a wizard like setup program, stepping you through setting up the NC's. I will keep informed of my progress, after I get the Wincenter Pro software. Oh BTW, it also sounds like NCD might be sending me the new beta version of Wincenter. The one that has the new NT 4.0 GUI. I am not sure about this, but there was a mentioning of beta invited into the beta. I really really hope this is true.
