The 2623 is a controller that lets you hook up up to 6 com lines (using
cards like 2609) - like V.24 or V.35 - for SDLC or X.25, etc.

The ASCII workstation controller allows you to hook up ASCII devices -
it isn't a comm device per se, but hooking up a modem lets you do that.
You could hook local ASCII terminals or other devices to this controller
- that's its original purpose.
