regarding newsgroup
comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc

I'm a subscriber. The terminology you use "sending mail" makes me wonder. I
have only posted messages to the newsgroup (and others, reliably) via the
software that is set up for the purpose of reading threads/messages and
responding to those threads/messages. There is a button marked "Send New
Message" if you want to open a new thread, else you can respond to the group
(and optionally check mark the option to copy the message you are sending the
group, under that thread, with an e-mail to the author of the message to
which you are replying).

I get the idea you are probably not noticing the options that exist on
buttons around the messages - or thread headers - once you have activated the
newsgroup screens. Are you getting to the newsgroup screen? Are you
subscribed on AOL to the newsgroup? If not, use the Goto option off the menu
bar at the top of the screen, select Keyword, then fill in "newsgroups".
Look for the "expert add" button, and when asked for the newsgroup name fill
in the
comp.sys.ibm.as400.misc
and wait for a confirmation message. I forget, you may have to get out of
newsgroups and get back in. (You might make that screen a "favorite Place"
by cliking on the little heart at the top right of the menu header for that
window before exiting - making it easier to come back.) When you do come
back you will see _lots_ of threads waiting to pick from and read/respond.
Take your time and look around at the screens before doing too much -- make
sure you understand your options.

And don't confuse newsgroups with e-mail -- they really are different
beasties.

Best of luck

Charlie
