RPG programmer - IBM experience a plus - higher level (8 years
experience or more). Must be able to dig into code for trouble shooting
and modifications (many times trying to figure out changes made by
others).
. If possible: PRMS experience (this is our ERP system - not
very popular, but would be a tremendous plus to us if they know it).
Definitely manufacturing/accounting systems knowledge is required.
. Definitely needs to follow good business practices so far as
change control and documentation.
. A good personality is a plus, as this person will be dealing
directly with users much of the time.
. Must be able to deal with multiple projects (short & long
term with specified deadlines) and handle unexpected day-to-day issues.
Should be self motivated and organized in order to plan their time
All the recent code is written in RPG ILE, there is some existing code in
RPG 4 and also AS400 Cobol - but this VERY old code is really left alone -
As far as the ERP system is concerned, a similar system to PRMS would be
BPICS or any other ERP for manufacturing. The modules that the incumbent
would primarily be working on are:
BOM (Bill of Materials)
Item Master
MRP/MPS
Work Centers
Routing
And a home grown Multi-Plant module for the warehouse
All of these modules are programmed in ILE
