Kirkland & Ellis, LLP Midrange Engineer Office: Chicago Number of Positions: 1 Description: The Chicago office is seeking a Midrange Engineer who will lead the architecture, design, operations and support efforts for firm wide Midrange server environment. Establishment of advanced level maintenance tasks associated with the Midrange hardware and operating system (OS/400, iSeries, AIX) and operational standards to support the environment are key deliverables of this role. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recommending new technology directions and operational changes in support of firm wide business needs, day-to-day design and operation of Midrange server systems, printers, and other networked devices firm-wide, and providing second and third level technical support to end users. The Midrange Engineer will work in cooperation with Networking, Application and Helpdesk staff in the troubleshooting diagnosis, and resolution of incidents. The ideal candidate will have the following experience: 5+ years of AIX operations experience in an enterprise environment, 5+ years in architecting, designing and supporting Midrange servers, and 2+ years working with Monitoring tools (Tivoli) or similar monitoring management tool. Other requirements include excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to prepare reports, presentations and documentation, strong organization skills and attention to detail. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of Storage (SAN) and Backup Technologies as well as expertise with establishing best practices and standards on Midrange platforms. Special Requirements: Required to carry a blackberry and/or other wireless device and respond to off hour emergencies.
