Wipro actually has consultants from 24 different nationalities working for them. In fact, I have a friend (white) I contracted with in North Carolina who was just hired by Miracle Software Systems (an India based company) for a long-term contract in Hawaii where Miracle is only making about a 10% profit and he will make a huge 6 figure salary each year! As far as the AS400 / iSeries not doing well, it really depends on the are you live, your skill level, how well you network, and in my personal opinion (my personal relationship with God) who has proven time and time again that He's in control! Jonathan Jonathan, The $64 question is this: Would Wipro hire you if you applied for a job, or do they only use their people? I don't think they exactly have an open hiring policy. -- Paul Nelson Arbor Solutions, Inc. 708-670-6978 Cell pnelson@xxxxxxxxxx info@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx <tmblmcollins@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>, Sent by: To <donshafer@xxxxxxxxx>, midrange-jobs-bounces+pnelson=arbsol.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx <MIDRANGE-JOBS@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc 02/10/2006 07:13 AM Subject Re: Job Search Advice *** Please pay close attention when replying to a message on this list! *** If you want the reply to go to the list, use REPLY-TO-ALL *** Recruiters may advertise only permanent employment positions in this list. Come on Don that's neither a fair statement nor accurate. I understand that offshore outsourcing has affected the IT community but it has nothing to do Bush nor does it have anything to do with Indian's working for 12K a year. Before you criticize at least understand the shift within the industry. Don't get bitter, get better. I've worked directly with consultants from the world's largest offshore outsourcing company, Wipro Technologies. Just like any other company they have good, average, and below satisfactory employees. The company is an India based company and employs over 42,000 consultants worldwide. I understand US corporations have outsourced IT jobs causing many IT professionals to reconsider their career paths. No doubt this has had a significant affect on the US economy. Those of us who stick around should understand the offshore business; pros and cons of outsourcing as well as the strengths and weaknesses offshore employees. If you think the Indians have devestated the market leaving the US IT industry destitute, look out for the Chinese who are coming in with bill rates even lower than the average India based companies. I can't tell any of you a drop dead strategy for moving foward. However, my personal strategy is to continue to produce high quality, cost effective, and timely solutions to my clients.....network like crazy....and partner with as many Indian companies that I can! Call me crazy but if I know that Wipro just signed over a $3 billion dollar contract with GM, I also know that they will need stateside resources for some of the work and trust me, Wipro's rates stateside are compatible to any other mainstream consulting company (i.e. TekSystems, Ajilon, Kforce, etc.) Regards, Jonathan R. Burrs > >Are you Indian? >Are you a recent graduate willing to work for 12 grand a year? >If not, consider a position as a Motel 6 night manager.
