I started my carrier working on an IBM System 3 and am currently working with an iSeries 810. In 1996 I began taking on the responsibilities of the Unix Progress DBA, with this new responsibility I discontinued being an active programmer analysis. During this period I developed new skills developing Unix and PERL scripts. In 1999 I was promoted to be the System Admin / DBA for the iSeries. I am currently responsible for all iSeries related security and system functions. I have designed and implemented a system monitoring application which is currently used to monitor the various iSeries, Unix, and Filenet systems. I submit yearly budget items to management for any required iSeries hardware and software upgrades. I review and implement all database changes. I apply all iSeries 3rd party package software upgrades. I review and implement all electronic file transfers between the iSeries and various vendors, these transfers are setup as dialup or internet connections as needed. I am the administrator of our current software change management system MKS. I perform the yearly iSeries Disaster Recovery tests. I have many years experience supporting and developing application / system programs using RPG ILE, RPG IV, CL, CL ILE, and system APIs. Along with this I have a through understanding of the database concepts and implementation on the iSeries. During this past year the company has made plans to implement additional Microsoft SQL Servers, I have been assigned the task of being the DBA for the new sever instances. I have designed and implement one SQL Server applications which is currently being used to monitor the various iSeries, Unix, and Filenet systems, this was previously a Microsoft Access application.
