AS/400 - MAPICS analyst Position

      A dynamic western North Carolina company seeks a senior systems
analyst to manage the major systems growth of this fast growing company. We
have demanding customers and are in a fast paced business supplying the
world's largest retail customers.

    Senior Systems Analyst 

     

      Basic Purpose: 

          Evaluates the systems needs of staff and operating departments and
recommends solutions to problems. Develops, tests, supports, and modifies
internal Application systems and database systems. Documents all systems
designed and modified.  Candidate will report to the IT Manager.  Operates
under minimal supervision and provides work direction to less senior staff
members.   The position requires six years of systems analysis experience. 

      Essential Duties and Responsibilities

          30%
              Evaluates systems needs of internal staff and operating
              departments. This includes:
                  Interviewing users and determining information needs and
the 
                  sources of required data.  Recommends systems solutions.
          20%
              Designs, builds and supports all database systems required for
              the effective functioning of those departments.
          20%
              Develops, tests and modifies internal application systems:
                  Designs systems, modules and/or approaches and required
                  enhancements. 

              Develops diagrams and logic flowcharts. 
                  Codes, reviews, prepares test data, tests and debugs and
                  Manages the proper implementation of developed solutions.

                  Revises and updates programs as required.
          10%
              Ensures that documentation is created for all systems designed
or
              modified.
          10%
              Maintains technology expertise, keeping current with evolving
              systems analysis, programming and database technology.
          10%
              Provides work direction to less senior staff members. 

          Essential Education, Skills and Environment

          Education and Work Experience

              Bachelor's degree in business or computer science; may have
              post-graduate education or training. Typically requires six
years of
              Systems analysis experience. 

          Specialized Knowledge and Skills

              Excellent knowledge of programming and systems analysis
              procedures.  Excellent knowledge of RPG, SQL, CLP, MAPICS. 
              Excellent communications, writing and editing skills needed to
transfer  
              information to individuals involved in the development
              process.  Excellent project leadership skills.
