You should get MCH6801 on this too.
Thinking more on this (while asleep) it's possible you are changing
location x'105C' in the primary associated space of the program and
not in the program header. This would explain why it appears to work
(i.e., no exception) but doesn't change anything. Compare the
addresses in your program to those in a dump of the program you are
trying to modify.
Or perhaps you have an exception handler that is swallowing the
exception?
