Hi Doug
Not an expert on IPL's, but the Service Functions manual does have a lot to
say about IPLing and is a good place to start.
I've got, somewhere, a flowchart that shows the various stages of the IPL
process along with "approximate" timings which I can let you have when I
find it.
Also, I have a tool that formats the output from the system program QWCCRTEC
which shows the various stages of the last IPL and their timings. Let me
know if you'd like a copy.
Best regards
Jonathan

Subject: [MI400] in search of System Diagnostics Aid Manual
Hello AS/400 MI programmers,
I am interested in learning as much as possible about the IPL/startup
process for my AS/400 9406-S20. In SST I saw the following manual
referenced:
System Diagnostics Aid Manual (LY21-0597)
On an older IBM site I have seen this being sold for $373. It isn't
available in PDF, at least from IBM.
My machine is running V4R2.
I was wondering if anyone has a copy of this manual that they would
be willing to part with.
Failing that, if any of you are experts in the IPL process, I would
love to learn more.
