What data type is S?
DCL DD A CHAR(68); DCL DD B CHAR(68); ADDLC(S) A, B;
"S" specifies the short form of the opcode requiring only 2 parms. In this case, "A" servers as both operand and result. The normal or long form has 3 parms where the result is parm 1 and the operands are parms 2 and 3. Not unlike the way ADD in RPG can omit factor 1.
