But my response is strictly questioning the practicality of doing what you want to achieve using MI. Are you doing this strictly for the exercise, or are you responsible for creating a solution for your employer that does not need to involve re-inventing the wheel? I mean, I could write an MI program to replicate an existing IBM command, but why would I if there's no real benefit to my employer? Just from what you've said your requirements are, to report object size, date last used, etc., everything you're looking for can be had in a nicely defined, IBM-supported DSPOBJD outfile. It takes less than a minute to type out the command. How long will it take to write/debug/test the MI program to do the same thing? Yeah, the MI program will probably run faster, but you'll never make up the time in your labor. (Unless you're in the league of Leif, Njål, Gene, or others, I suppose.) If your employer doesn't mind you doing this, or maybe even encourages you to do so, then I say, "Wow, knock yourself out!" - Dan
