Can somebody explain why it is that a CPYBREP instruction, exactly following the syntax given in both the V2R3 and V4R4 MI books, can crash QPRCRTPG? Or why the MI books say it can be used with substrings, and yet a PDF by Leif, that I uncovered with a Google search, says it can't? The exact "problem" instruction is CPYBREP BUFASTR(.IRF:.I), X'0020'; With the instruction commented out, compilation is nominal. But un-comment it, and the compilation listing goes into "dump" mode, the same as if I'd done a relative branch without marking the target. Or can anybody suggest an easy alternate way to initialize a substring of a large buffer to Unicode spaces? -- JHHL
