I'm not sure how much it helps you, but ....

the guys who produce aXes (www.arterialsoftware.com) run _all_ interactive
in batch.  I have to assume that they make changes to the SEPT but have no
real idea how it works.  But - since it switches all output to the browser,
and you can plug-in to the fast CGI server .... maybe if one were already
using it to web enable you could probably also adapt it to do what you want.
