Hi, Don: I beg to differ... if the source escrow agreement is done properly, where's the risk? Also, in many cases, the price of software with full source code is "too expensive"... while the "escrow" approach only opens the source code to the customers in the (unlikely?) event that the ISV "goes under" (or whatever other terms and conditions are specified in the escrow agreement). Also, really "good" escrow agreements will include clauses to allow independent verification that the source code that has been escrowed in fact produces the identical program product executable code, as an "audit" of the escrow process, to ensure that the customers are not eventually "burned" when the ISV does go out of business, only to find, too late, that old, obsolete, or incorrect source code has been "escrowed."
