UIM

Is it possible to modify a UIM panel group object so that you can enter a
character value in the option field.  Currently there is no way to do this
(that I know off).  I want to be able to enter a 2 character value in a UIM
list panel option fields and have a RPG program retrieve the value and
preform some action.

I have a tool written using panel groups that mimic the WRKSPLF command
with a few enhancements.  I want to be able to add the ability to use  user
defined options, but  with UIM I can't enter character values.

Thanks for any help that anybody can provide me with.
