Um, I'm not sure you're asking in the right list, unless there really is something "under the covers" that you need to do. Why not just change the contents of the record *before* you do the write? In RPG, plain & simple. Hmmm, let me back up a little bit here... Do you know how to code RPG? If this won't work for you, please explain why.
