Hello Leif, I suspect COBOL's REDEFINES statement (at least for OPM COBOL) is probably using DEF and POS. It would be nice to be able to reset the next byte count but our chances of getting much MI enhancement are a little remote now. There is a RESET directive that changes the current SPC used by DIR statements but it doesn't alter the next byte count. Perhaps you can toss together a pre-pocessor addition that rebuilds the structure the way you want. It could calculate the DEF and POS values -- you keep using DIR.
