To pick nits, the system doesn't exactly do *nothing*--it executes the 
instruction that was replaced by the trap, and *then* does nothing :-)

Also, note that if you save a pgm that has a breakpoint in it, the system 
cleverly replaces the trap with the original instruction in the save file or 
tape.

Those guys in Rochester who write SLIC had to have *something* to do during 
those long winter days :-)
