Hi, Steve:

To answer your question, NO, ABSOLUTELY NOT!!!

The "New MI" (NMI) is totally separate from the "original MI", just as
the "Original Program Model" (OPM) is completely separate and distinct
from the "Integrated Language Environment" (ILE). The "binary template"
form of the OPM MI template that you get from QSCMATPG is exactly
the same as what you get from the MATPG instruction, only it is returned
as 80-byte "card images" in a physical file member (with RCDLEN(80)).
The OPM MI template is preserved for "compatibility" with all the old
programs that still use OPM, such as RPG/400, COBOL/400, etc.

The "New MI" (or NMI) is NOT DOCUMENTED anywhere outside of
IBM, and is considered by IBM to be "INTERNAL USE ONLY".

All I was trying to say is, if you use OPM MI, then these are two rather
useful APIs, and they should be documented somewhere.

Regards,

Mark S. Waterbury
