Is it possible to dcl a spcptr and init it to null?

DCL SPCPTR pData INIT(0) does not work. neither does INIT(*).

The best I have been able to do is:
    DCL SPCPTR pData AUTO ;
    DCL DD cInit CHAR(1) DEF(pData) INIT(' ') ;

Where has this list been all my life?

We have a lot to talk about.
