>I would add that all polite mail senders include the 'From' and 'To' >headers, as most mail clients use these to display who the message was sent >by and who the message is to. It's more serious than politeness. You may need it as a fundamental requirement. If you are at all concerned about getting past anti-SPAM filters, even in your own organization, then a more full-blown and robust mail header usually helps. SPAMmers often put out pretty minimalist mail and the lack of things (especially From and To) are just the sort of things that automated SPAM filters discard without a second thought. Meanwhile, if there is a good "From" or "To" field, many anti-SPAM filters will explicitly include your mail in as "acceptable". The whole world of SPAM filtering is very ad hoc, but that's a start of how to think about it. You'd be amazed at how much SPAM doesn't even bother to put in a "To" you field. And, of course, they're seldom smart enough to pose as being part of your company, so the "From" field will at least segregate in-house and external mail very readily. Larry W.
