James,
you are better off making that a two step process:
1) run a PC program (like the one I've sent to several people)
which produces a file with the savefile information (sample below)
2) run a PC script (e.g. perl) to  manage the transfer, the
checking, the correcting (somewhat undefined problem...),
etc.
