 If your Ethernet and TR LANs are on different subnets you can turn on IP
datagram forwarding for the ENTIRE AS/400 (I'm on V4R4, in CFGTCP it's
option 3, "change TCP/IP attributes". The drawback is the AS/400 will start
forwarding datagrams between ALL interfaces (dial up, twinax ... the whole
works) that are on different subnets. Besides eating up your AS/400
communications capability, you are open to "unintended consequences" in your
network when the AS/400 starts routing IP packets. 
 It may be a better deal to get a small router between just those two
network segments (JMHO, since I have no idea of what your network looks
like).
 If memory serves me there was a discussion about this in the "midrange-l"
list a while back, that should be in the archives.
