: How does SST D/A/D go about modifying programs? I'd like to write

Ah, to see the source for SST, now that's where my vote for OpenSource
goes !

It's not trivial, and SST also does some house keeping to mark the
object as changed. Plus it's running as a kind of event driven
program, the real programs of SST that do the work run as subtasks(?),
which I think helps ensure updates can occur 'on-the-fly' without
seizure/lock issues.

What you can do if your modifying the same locations of the object is
create a program that runs system state (i.e create the program and
use SST to switch it's state) In this program you should be able to
access the object headers i.e. the system pointer to the object (at
least on seclvl 30 and below). You'll need to mess with SST until you
get your program right, but after that you can use your program to
modify objects instead of SST (but be careful !)

At Seclvl 40+ you'll need a lot more work and IMHO probably not worth
all the hassle.
