I'm an independent software rep whose helps users of older ERP systems modernize those ERP systems without changing their business practices. Several of my clients are running older versions of MAPICS, MAC PAC, JD Edwards, etc. on newer iSeries servers.
All those firms I have in mind are in the same boat as Kepco - running heavily modified base ERP software which makes the upgrade to the vendors' current version costly on numerous fronts. One account has been through at least 4 hardware upgrades since 2010, while running the same ERP software.
If it would help, I'd be happy to reach out to a couple of my clients and see if they're willing to share their experiences with Kepco.

We have a heavily modified MAPICS XA Rev. 3 running on a 9406-500. We are happy with our current software, but, as time goes on, getting service and spare parts for the AS400 has become very difficult.
We are looking for a path forward. Infor wants a lot of money to migrate us to the current version of MAPICS running on a new box.
Our question is how have other users dealt with this issue? Is there a good way to run our current MAPICS on a more modern box?
Is there someone you would recommend that we talk to that can help us?
