The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

You would need to populate the location file (SLQNTY). In this file there is a FIFO date and a QC date. I believe it is the QC date that it compares against the system date to figure out the shelf life and compares that to the shelf life days in the item master. When it hits the shelf life it changes the qc indicators and puts back into a qc state and you need to do a qc transaction to get it into stock. We are currently using this with R6. We will converting to R9 soon but I assume it will be similar.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Implementing Shelf Life
Perhaps you guys can help me (actually, I'm sure you can).
I am considering implementing Shelf Life control on some items when we
convert to a controlled warehouse in August. I need some help
understanding how the function works.
I've read the books and searched on inforextreme but I find I'm still lacking information on how to do this.
Does anyone have an overview of how this function works? How would I
convert my existing inventory with shelf life ? (Where do I put the starting date to which the shelf-life days are added?)
Appreciate any background that I can collect here.
Thanks !
Mike
