Good News Everybody!

A new search engine is coming soon.

As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

I'd like to anchor it in aisleways, door exits, etc.

Often in tight spots.

It would be nice to see a method of mounting that protects them from oil,
vandalism, and theft.

Not that we have a problem beyong oil and manhandling, but shiny new
objects might be a temptation.

Will look into the models. Funny thing is I haven't found a vendor for the
ToughPads.

Thanks.

Anchor it, as in anchor it to a forklift? Then consider the Motorola
VC5090 with a Bluetooth scanner. We've had a picker using it five days a
week for about 5 years.

When I saw the price (>$3,500), I was skeptical, but the thing is built
like a tank and it hasn't missed a day of service in about five years. Our
reseller got us a demo before we bought it. It's a great piece of
engineering.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Shop Touch Screens & Data Collection

Hello all,

This may seem a bit off-topic, however it's tied to purchasing Infor's MES
application.

Is anyone using touch tablets in the shop that they would recommend? And
how did you mount/protect them?

We currently run old Intermec terminals with DCA (DCSI/Highjump).
The guys are pretty rough on these terminals, so I'm hestitant to put some
IPads or Droids out there by themselves.

The plan is to deply these devices for transactions & dispatch instructions
- not dwg retrieval or other MES activities.

I'm looking at Panasonic's ToughPad A1 as an example, but then I still
need to anchor it.

Thanks for your time & input...james
