The two Infor supported products that are already integrated to XA are F9 and PM 10. F9 is very similar to the Global Soft offerings, but it is even faster to implement because of the pre-built integration to XA.

PM 10 is high end financial management, so it does far more than just financial reporting. It is also integrated to XA.

The FLEX Upgrade includes both applications, your choice. Both applications are also integrated to most other Infor products, neither one is System i based.

Cognos is the third option, and it is also fully integrated to XA and all the data is mapped.

In the next release of XA, we will be delivering some native BI capabilities based on the ION and Workspace technologies.

Hello everyone,

I know this topic has come up before as I was searching thru the ML archives, but it seemed a bit dated.

Looking for some tips on acquiring a financial report writer to be used by the finance team - not IT.

Looking at traditional accounting reports, but also looking to report across the system, tapping into standard costing, item master, inventory, etc as accountants often do.

Most likely looking for a graphical tool that is not AS400 specific so that it is portable (think Syteline in x years...)

I came up with this list, and am about to jump in feet first, but I would appreciate any tips on these or others.
1. Infor (looking to XA 9.X)
2. Advanced Logic Solutions, Inc.
3. Enterprise 21
4. Global Software's Spreadsheet Server and EDash
5. Jacana
6. FRx
7. Cognos

I am very open to anyone contacting me directly, as I know email can be tough to write experiences/opinions when you're busy.

I do not have problems with vendors contacting me directly either.
We are willing to do the setup if there is a good product (FRx, Cognos) that works, but lacks the mappings.

Thanks in advance for any input!

Suggest you look at INFOR's PM10. In its basic form replaces FRx (since that is a dead product), but will also receive input from disparate systems (INFOR and non-Infor) including Excel uploads and manual entry.
Additionally will perform consolidations and eliminations, and currency conversions. Reporting examples beyond the standard P&L and Balance Sheet are departmental statements, product lines profitability and so on. PM10 also provides the capability to drill back to the originating transactions.
It also has the capability to handle other reporting outside of the pure finance world depending on what data you have available. If you want to go fairly simple and are good with Excel and pivot tables then INFOR's F9 product will do. Similar to Spreadsheet Server. If you are looking for a "one product does all" and have some extra $$ laying around then look at Cognos.

We use SQL Server reporting services and analysis services for all our reporting. The SQL Server BI suite. We've found because we have more than XA in our environment we are able to pull data from the multiple systems together very well. We can build an environment where the users can build their own reports once we set up the environment.

One other multi-environment tool to consider is mrc's
(www.mrc-productivity.com) m-Power.

As a user I've used m-Power to develop the simplest to the most complex report.
It supports graphical as well as providing more than rudimentary business intelligence support.

MAPICS may be one of those ERP systems mrc has already mapped to m-Power.

Spreadsheet Server for your accounting team and E-Dash for all your other needs are two products from Global software that will meet your needs. Spreadsheet Server can be installed and up and running in a day to your XA system saving you thousands.

We will contact you offline to discuss this further with you and setup a webinar

Symtrax StarQuery

You have to know what tables and fields to pull from but it dumps the query results right into an Excel spreadsheet which Excel users like.
