This was setup in 2003 on R6 but maybe you can find some of the concept useful.
We had a series of Fields Service reports. In our case we were getting away from printed reports and wanted to enter the parameters and have the results open in another window where data could be exported to Excel, subsetted, etc. I created a file with the report name, from date, to date, whatever parameters were needed. This information is updated in the report record. The report record is selected and an action button is selected for a related (1 to Many) "report file" which then takes the parameters from the browser runs the host program and opens the window. There are new features in Browser/Power-Link which probably make this obsolete now but could possibly be useful in a different technique.
