Mario-

That looks like the best solution. My only concern would be how similar M2 and m2 are to the users.
Also, remember that 1,000,000 m2 (square millimeters) = 1 M2 (square meters). So, 150 m2 = .000150 M2.

Good afternoon Btrisko!

This is Mario Garcia.

I just remembered: lengths lesset than a meter.

       square Meter          M2
       square decimeter     d2
       square centimeter    c2
       square milimeter      m2

similarly measures higher that a square meter         D2    square Deca-meter
                                                                           H2    square Hecto-meter
                                                                           K2    square Kilo-meter

Hopefully this is useful to you. and the difference between Capital Letters and lower case does not make a mess in your company/users/engineers.

In the MAPICS data, can you expres the square milimeters as a fraction of square meter? (I do not remember nor have on sight the length for Mapics Unit of Measure asociated quantity or amount)

but let say 150 mm2 (m2) is 0.150 M2

Have a great day.

Tom ~

I had to ask the engineer that is requesting this, here is his explanation

We are looking at sheet material that is cut using square millimeters.

An example would be a metric sheet metal part that is cut and bent based on the metric material required on the drawing.

Another example would be a metric plastic part being cut from a metric plastic sheet material.

I am curios as to what sort of item you need a UM of square millimeters for?

But the unit of measure field is only 2 characters long. So MM2 won't work.

Hi, good afternoon Btrisko!
square meter abbreviation is M2, and guessing square milimeter is mm2.
Best Regards

We are wondering how unit of measure is abbreviated for square meter and square millimeter?

Thanks
