FYI-

EPDM @ rel 7.7 and higher is much more robust in the area of cost simulation.

One of the many benefits. All online views of results, percents, etc.

Of course these can be dropped into a spread sheet then for further analysis.

Yes, you can do cost roll simulations in PDM. If you have upgraded and
activated EPDM, you can do them there as well. The same function as in PDM.

You can go to screen AMEJ70. You can then select from a list of changes you
want to test. See the manual for details but basically they are:
1. Simulate items that have had bom/routing or cost changes.
2. Simulate rate changes that have occurred in routings for machine rates,
run labor rates, setup labor rates or overhead rates
3. Simulate changes at the material level by a percentage (i.e. simulate a
material price increase of 3%)
4. Simulate changes using the system calculated average yield factor.
5. None, just simulate a cost roll. i.e. no changes to the system tables
(files).

As far as I know, no data is written to tables. It is only printed output.
If you want a file you would need to have a license to source and modify the
source, or if you have a print spool reading program such as jacana you
could then create the tables.

No. I have always been told there is a way to do costing simulations in
Product Data Management? Just never had the need to do it until now. Thanks

Are your talking about Power Link 7.7 ?

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Costing Simulation

Hi all. I have a need to start using the costing simulation in Mapics.
We run pdm and IM. We have never used it and I was wondering if you
could explain to me how it works? What I need to do is simulate a cost
change of raw materials and see how it effects the costs of finished
products. Where does Mapics store this information or is it only on
reports? I also need to capture this information in a file. Any thoughts
or help is appreciated. Thanks!
