The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

The DB2 for i is *integrated* part of the OS. Everybody with
OS/400, i5/OS, IBM i OS has an integrated DB2. It is there whether
it is used or not. There is no requirement to have the 57xxST1 "SQL
Development kit" [or whatever] to perform SQL. There are probably
over a dozen ways to easily perform almost any SQL without the SQL
LPP which mostly only provides the pre-compilers & both of the
interactive tools STRSQL & STRQM.
All of those other alluded ways to perform SQL are available at
no additional cost, nor even most, by installing an additional
[again no additional cost] LPPs. The most limited availability is
to create a workstation /report/ for lack of the two above noted
statement input tools STR*** commands. However the noted
requirement was to output the results to a file; no report writer
required for that.
The iNav database feature has a Run SQL feature; it also has
reporting, automatically presenting result sets even from CALL of a
stored procedure.
CRTQMQRY and STRQMQRY provides access to a single statement with
variables, plus access to a report writer.
I prefer REXX for SQL, but it has no report writer.
ODBC into the database; requires a client which may be or have a
report writer.
DB2 command line in QSHell
The list goes on..

SQL is not free. My predecessor did not buy it. Now we are
cash-strapped and I can't buy it either.
