Yes, except that we always printed ALL the open items for the order, not just specific items. We had the capability of specific items only, but it didn't make sense - especially since if between the time a pick list was printed and time that the parts picker would go get the item(s), more items might well become available.

Cork,

My thought was to select the orders and items and let XA do all the
rest, including assigning the picklist number and updating the files.
Did your program do this?

Dave

Dave,

We did that at my prior company (Fleetwood Folding Trailers),
automatically generating COM pick lists for all backordered items that
were now available - in other words, we ran through all backordered
items to see if we had any of them show up on hand, and if any were
available, we printed the pick lists automatically.

We also had an external program that would let our A/R department go
through and generate all the pick lists for orders after they
reviewed/released them from credit hold. They'd work the credit hold
report, and after releasing the orders they would pop up a screen that
would let them enter a string of orders and they would all be printed.

We did that YEARS ago (when we went to R6), but it was still in use when
I left in early 2008, I don't recall that it was that difficult - and I
could probably still get the source if no one else has a solution. I
would imagine my old affiliate (Guide Technologies) would know how to do
it also.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] Calling the XA Customer Picklist process outside of
XA

To the group,

We are working on a project where customer orders are selected for pick
based on order and item availability in a nightly program outside of XA.
This selection will consist of two groups, those orders that can be
printed immediately and those that need to be reviewed by a planner.
For the first group, we want the program to call the XA pick list print
program automatically and in the second group, we want the user to be
able to highlight the orders to be printed and then call the XA pick
list print program. We want to bypass the XA pick screens. Has anyone
done this or know of a way to submit the XA pick list print programs
outside of XA?

Thank you for your help,

David Lauderdale
