Thanks, Jeff. Now I don't feel bad for not knowing how to do that in vanilla MAPICS (or whatever this thread decided to call it). We've been doing this about the same length of time!

Subject: Re: [MAPICS-L] Reorder point based on last order date

food for thought... err drink...

seriously off the top of my head...For fifo date control, I think you'd have to set up lot control for the part number in question as well as fifo date control. Each Lot would have a different date.

you would have to monitor the shelf life, expiration date via report to ensure a reorder in enought time (lead time) before the last gal expires.

A simplier approach, though general in approach would be to set the ROP at 3 or 4 gal. to be sure to replenish before all is expired. ? Maybe extend your replenishment (vendor time) by some 'x' days of potential expiration to set the ROP.

Nothing in MRP will address any better that I know of. you have Safety stock and shrinkage, etc I guess you could entertain.

I guess it's a cost/benefit analysis. Just a few 'out of the box' thoughts.....may be worth modeling.

I've been consulting in Mapics XA for over 20 yrs, I do not know of a clear cut answer to the exact qry.

Hope this helps a bit..
