Do you have Integrator? It's best to rename them (attribute name, label,
column heading) at the business object level as well. This lets them be
identified by their true business content. (Rather than rename on each
individual view and card)

Integrator lets you also put real discrete domains (dropdown/radio
buttons) over them and link to code files. So you can do validation as
well or custom edits if preferred.

Half the battle however is figuring out what are used by past developers
isnt' it!

I don't know however of a single document that outlines all of the
available ones.
