accomplish the task at hand quickly, the "quickie: would work and it
could be written and tested in a matter of minutes. Over the years,
I have had many clients request this simple task and not one of them
have wanted the CUs in their IMHIST file. But of course that is an
ITEMASB.

I would advise against writing the "quickie" program unless you also
include creating the CU transaction (standard unit cost default
replacement) for tracking/audit purposes.
