Hello Eric,
The picking process is done in a warehouse using bar code scanning devices,
we have bar coding on the pick lists and the product packaging has bar code
labelling to show the item number and where appropriate a bar coded serial
number.
The pickers in the warehouse do the physical pick and confirm what they have
picked using the scanning devices.
The scanning devices are wireless they transmit the pick list lines plus the
serial numbers of picked inventory, these are written to our own 'non
MAPICS' files.
The U-job reads the pick list lines in the 'non Mapics' files and builds the
Offline Ship records, the Offline Ship process is then called, this builds
the shipment, then a third stage runs to look for serial numbers, if there are
serial numbers they are added to the 'standards Mapics' serial number file.

Regards
Bob

Bob,
Are you using the Lot Number as your serial number or some other process?
