It sounds like you want to create a one to many relationship from C.O. Line 
Item to BOM based on that field.  You would then have an entry under the 
display menu when you right click allowing you to view a list of the BOMs that 
match that criteria.

click to select a user action.
The action will use the CO Line Item Config ID as a search parameter to
display the Bill Of Material that has the same Alternate Bill Of
Material ID as the CO Line Item.
