I used a "freebie" email command from News400 (iSeries/Seriesi) magazine
called SNDM (Send SMTP Mail). We also use ICS/FormsPrint with KeyesPDF
converter to convert the document to PDF. Once the confirmation is
received from the Bank (via fax) and the user selects to confirm the EFT
Batch transmission, the program reads all the checks that were processed
via EFT and sends the email(s) to the appropriate receipients with the EFT
  Remittance Advice.

The whole utility was designed with security clearances, multiple
authorizations required to satisfy my customer's Accounting firms desire
to be sure that no one could change the data, or send fraudulent data.
We then had to write an EC interface to send it to the bank. We did not
like XA's use of the 820 document since it appeared to be sending one
transaction per check - not in a batch of checks like our bank wanted.

The reason we did not use the NACHA format was because the only way we
were going to be able to transmit it to the bank was to upload it to a PC
(thereby opening the door for someone to use Notepad to change data). Granted, the users are very trustworthy but I did not like that idea
  anyway.

Any other questions about what I did, you can contact me offline.

  Eric
