Jeff:

One approach used by some MAPICS users is to implement Systems Plus' OTTO
(On Time Orders). OTTO has a scheduling function that performs three tasks:
1. Sequence the load based on some material characteristics - gauge, width,
material (steel vs. aluminum vs. copper vs. etc.), etc.
2. Present the load imposed on each work center and/or department by
   customer demand.
3. Allow the shop supervisors to manipulate the shop order sequence based on

   load or resource availability.

Subject: [MAPICS-L] capacity vs Load analysis

   Hey Group.

Here we are running MRP and using CRP to validate the build plan, is it
   executable ?

We have several Dept. where the resources , labor are spread over
   multiple WCs.

To add variable capacity records to maintain vacation or know 'off time'
would be way to arduous a task. Before we automate this process of
loading these records I was wondering what some of you out there are
using
to validate the MPS , and or Build plan after MRP generation. Do you use
an average, or try to nut the vacations to get as accurate a picture as
possible. Also as a follow up how do you manage the day to day manpower
   requirements?

We have Browsersized our CRP output files and had envisioned having the
dept Supv be able to perform an analysis of overloaded WCs in his dept,
and use various views, subsets to check for available manpower elsewhere.
We do not have or use MPSP, we have a PC based FCST system feeding MLI
requirements directly to MRP. So, Im not discussing the theroy of 'rough
cut' capacity planning, but rather is the generated build plan
executable
   ?

We are also using PCC and the worklist, but it seems to be awful time
consuming for the dept. Supv. to shuffle the MOs to be sure all are
   completed on time.

Any input on MPS generated Build plan Validation methods and Manpower
   management would be appreciated.

   Thanks
