Thanks Jeff. I had a brief conversation with my Infor rep recently who said that with concurrent licensing it did not matter how many separate AS/400s you were running MAPICS on. He would just split up the users among the different machines. Of course, he could have been mistaken. Also, currently I am running a test environment of MAPICS on an LPAR that it separate from the LPAR for the production environment. It shares the licensing just as your setup does. But I want my shop floor systems to have separate servers so that production is not interrupted if the AS/400 on which the main MAPICS environment resides goes down. jeffw@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent by: mapics-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx 09/05/2006 07:54 PM Please respond to MAPICS ERP System Discussion <mapics-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> To MAPICS ERP System Discussion <mapics-l@xxxxxxxxxxxx> cc Subject Re: [MAPICS-L] Installing MAPICs on your shopfloor AS/400 Hi. Hopefully I am answering your question. My understanding of Mapics licensing is runs under the system hardware serial #. So if you are running it on an AS/400 that is LPARed no problem. This is the scenario I am running and I have 3 LPAR's running Mapics without incuring any additional Licensing problems. This is because all of the LPAR's share the same hardware serial #. But if you want to run Mapics on 2 different machines contain 2 different system hardware serial #'s then you need to purchase an additional licenses to use Mapics and purchase Mapics again. I dont think the type of license you own matters. I think that just matters when the users are acutally signed into Mapics. I know there is some license breaks if you are running Mapics on a high availbility server. But I dont know that much about that. Sorry but I do not have any experience with Enterprise Integrator. Has anyone installed MAPICS on an AS/400 separate from their main AS/400(which is running MAPICS) in order to use Enterprise Integrator to create a custom shopfloor system that would interface with their main installation of MAPICS? Did MAPICS envision us using Enterprise Integrator for all of our application development including shopfloor systems on remote AS/400s? Is this a crazy idea? My understanding is that since I am using concurrent users I could have MAPICS installed on as many AS/400s as I want. It would be nice if we just had one tool for all our development needs. Any feedback would be appreciated. _______________________________________________ This is the MAPICS ERP System Discussion (MAPICS-L) mailing list To post a message email: MAPICS-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/mapics-l or email: MAPICS-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/mapics-l.
