We are trying to implement electronic three way match within our MAPICS XA R6 environments. One obstacle we have run into is the time delay between receiving the invoice and receiving the material to stock. Specifically, Plant A purchases a steel component from a vendor as raw material input. However, the steel component needs to be plated before Plant A can use it. The plating is performed in-house but by another facility in our organization (Plant B) that is in a separate XA environment. Delivery of the plated steel component from Plant B to Plant A may occur 45 days after vendor shipment arrives at Plant B. However, the invoice from the vendor comes with 15 day terms which we honor. One suggestion was made was to create an "in-transit" warehouse in Plant A's environment to receive the component when it arrives from the vendor at Plant B. Another suggestion was made to utilize PO routings. Although the theory makes sense, we have no experience with using them and not sure how to utilize them correctly. Would you set up the routing with a Receipt to Dock step? And when the component arrives at Plant B for plating, issue a RD transaction? Then when it arrives at Plant A, issue a RP transaction? Can you 3-way match if the PO is only has a RD transaction associated with it? Thanks in advance for any suggestions or advice you can offer. PS: We are using PUR, AP, IM, PDM, PCC, PMC but do not have ISL or IFM.
