OK. For everyone that asked for the RPG source code listing on how to get UPS (or whoever's) tracking numbers loaded in to MAPICS, and I got a bazillion requests...... Go to out user group's website, to a special download page I created for this: http://www.powermug.org/offship.htm Right click and Save As and you get a PDF of the RPG source compile. Everything you need to use the program. You'll have to type it in yourself, though. This RPG program reads an ODBC generated file created by UPS. It can also be downloaded if you use that technique. It can use ANY companies file - we use it for UPS and FedEx Ground, and will soon be using it with DHL. Just change that file to the appropriate one. We also ran into the problem with MAPICS only carrying one tracking number for the shipments, and we ship a lot of multi-box shipments (most of them, in fact). How we handled that was we create order comment lines with all the tracking numbers for the order. That shows on inquiries, and also on the invoice. (COM_Net shows them too, since they show the order comments). This program creates the order comments, in addition to loading the tracking number of the 1st box into the Pro Number field. All the customer/user needs to do is cut and paste if they want to look at the other tracking numbers. I do NOT link to the individual part numbers in the shipment because we repackage a LOT (multiple parts into one bigger box). Have fun everyone! Oh yeah.... I WON'T SUPPORT THIS CODE.... It works for us, it's up to you for your shop. Eric, you especially understand this one.
