In my experience the hotel is always too costly, but let me share how I
get around that!

Using yahoo maps, map the hotel address then select to find nearby hotels
(hidden
under travel & transportation) and the map will be updated to show hotels
in proximity
to the convention! Hover your mouse to learn about these alternative
hotels!

I usually find another hotel within walking distance!

But be careful, the hotel address given on the MAPICS website is not
always correct,
as was the case last year! I believe it was East, not West, or
vice-versa. But I still found
a hotel directly behind the event hotel, there was even a walkway between
the two!

For those of us that work for small conservative companies, the excessive
price of the
hotel and car rental can mean the difference between going....or NOT!

Now that everyone knows how cheap I am........

going. It will be interesting to see what the room cost will be.. That
hotel is pretty expensive..
