Hey, just closed a MAPICS shop last week in Lawrence, MA. 85% of the production went to China. Cannot mention the company name, as that I was a contract consultant, but they are part a billion dollar firm which sends all it acquires to Tianjin, China. As that I was part of a transition team from MAPICS to corporate Manman, I knew of the costing aspects. The financial's were such that the US firm, which still sells its' product under the same brand name, (and does not apply any indication of made in China to the product) purchases what they once produced in China at a 25% markup of standard cost in the US production facility. Money to the Chinese banking system. Anyone know Lou Dobbs' email. I am sure he would like to nail this firm on his CNN program. China is nothing but horror stories for operations people!!!!!!!
