If you have plans/needs that extend beyond product structure, you might consider creating your own inquires with a product like Asna's AVR. www.asna.com We have developed a number of inquiries for MAPICS & Non-MAPICS data, some are local programs (.exe), some are web based (public & private). As I recall, Custom Systems also offered a product, www.cussys.com You could also look into Net.Data or XML for these tasks. Your task description reminds me of what I'd like to do using Apache, PHP and MYSQL on a Suse-Linux box, but I haven't got that far. My goal is to publish product certifications in a secure fashion and eliminate the paper chase! I could do it in .NET with AVR, but I think we should develop Linux skills as well! Good luck - I think you should let us know what you pursue, I'm sure a number of people are looking to do something similar to what you described. I'm looking for some ideas. I contacted global support; however, they indicated this currently cannot be done using MAPICS commands...they are looking at a future enhancement. We would like to link from our intranet to the MAPICS product structure. Ideally, we would like to locate the desired part number in an existing intranet application and then either pull the product structure (dynamically) into the intranet application or launch a Browser instance and open the product structure. Either option is better than our current process. Any thoughts or guidance on previous ideas or successes is appreciated.
