Antonio, Simple and elegant. Thanks Kevin Fox kdfox@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: mapics-l-bounces+kdfox=ix.netcom.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:mapics-l-bounces+kdfox=ix.netcom.com@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Antonio Rojas Sent: Friday, April 01, 2005 10:36 AM To: MAPICS ERP System Discussion Subject: RE: BOM explosion pgm Group, Remember that if you don't want to do any programming there is one good tip in the einfo: How to get a file representing an indented bill of material for an item Do the following: 1) Within MAPICS 'green screen' go to PDM 2) Inquiry 3) Product Structure Retrievals 4) Action = 2, enter item number and total quantity for finished item, press <ENTER> 5) Page (or scroll) down until you receive message 'AM-0003 You have reached the bottom of the list' 6) Press <ESC> or <ATTN> (whichever takes you to the Group Job Menu) 7) Press <F5> or <F6> in order to get to a command line 8) Issue the following command to copy the PSIISF file from QTEMP into your library: CPYF FROMFILE(PSIISF) TOFILE(YOURLIB/YOURFILE) CRTFILE(*YES) MBROPT(*REPLACE) Note: To get file for indented bill in EPDM follow same steps outlined above except go to EPDM inquiry and then steps 3 - 8 are essentially the same except you enter site in step 4. This will save the indented BOM as a file on the AS/400. You can then move it to PC using Client Access or some other method or use Query to create your own report. Note: Field EXTQTF (Quantity Per Unit) in PSIISF represents the total quantity required of the component to produce the number of finished items specified in step 4. Also note the presence of phantom items (item type = 0) in this file, as well as the components that comprise the phantom. Antonio Rojas. To do this "manually" would require some pretty fun coding. Using these programs, you just call them and they return a group of records at a time. The batch is then closed and processed through the normal Mapics procedures by the requester. As an interim step, the potential manufacturing orders are displayed for modification / deletion. Let me know if you have any interest and I will forward you the source programs. Does anyone have a BOM explosion pgm (that they are willing to share) that will either generate a report or a work file that will mimic how Mapics generates its records into MODATA..
